This poster was created as a commemorative for participants of the Ars Femina concert series, as well as a cover for the Ars Femina Digital Library, both of which were organized by Veronica Palensky of Indiana University Southeast. The concert series featured the music of The Ars Femina Digital Library, which is a digitized collection of physical musical scores and positive and negative microfilm copies of musical work by women composers from the 1500s through the 1800s.
The organizer wanted a poster that reflected the visual style of the old sheet music housed in the collection that prominently displayed the names of the performers and contributors of the music. In order to reflect that vision, I used vintage filigree and type, and pulled the muted colors and a faint sheet music texture from the physical scores that are part of the collection.
